Access does not have to be all or nothing
Sometimes the person who needs to see part of your vault is not family — it is your accountant, your solicitor, or an executor doing their job. Handing them your passphrase would give them everything, which is both unsafe and unnecessary. LifeWyn lets you grant access to specific parts instead.
A grant is scoped: you choose what it covers, what role the person holds, and when it ends. What it never includes is your passphrase, your keys, or anything you did not put in its scope.
Scope it to the work
Match the grant to the task. An accountant reviewing your affairs needs the financial picture, not your personal messages. Someone acting under a financial power of attorney needs a defined financial scope and nothing sentimental. Assign the role and the categories that fit, and leave the rest closed.
Because the vault's keys are separated per category and per item, this is a real boundary, not a screen that hides things: what is out of scope is not merely undisplayed, it is not decryptable under that grant at all.
Time-limited and revocable
A grant can carry an expiry, so access for a specific piece of work does not quietly persist for years after the work is done. And you can revoke it at any time — the right you most want to have the day a relationship changes.
Set an end date when you create it, even a generous one. An access that expires on its own is one less thing to remember to close later.
Everything is recorded
Grants and their use are audited, so there is an honest record of who was given what and when. For the kind of access a professional holds, that trail is a protection for both sides — it answers, later, the question of exactly what was available to whom.
Review your active grants periodically. The list should always describe your current arrangements, not the accumulated history of every professional you have ever worked with.
लोग जो सवाल पूछते हैं
- Can my accountant or lawyer see my passwords or crypto keys?
- Only if you put those in the grant's scope, which you would not. A scoped grant covers the categories you choose and never includes your passphrase or your encryption keys. What is out of scope is not decryptable under that grant.
- Can I take the access back?
- Yes. Grants are revocable at any time, and you can also set them to expire on their own so access does not outlive the work it was for.
