How to Set Up Life Signals: Check-Ins, Windows and Escalation

Choosing a check-in rhythm that fits your life, setting each escalation window, and deciding who is asked to confirm and when, so a holiday never looks like a death.

What a Life Signal is for

Life Signals is how LifeWyn tells the difference between you being busy and you being gone. On a schedule you set, you confirm you are alright. As long as you keep confirming, nothing happens. It is quiet by design — the whole point is that it stays dormant for years and only stirs if the confirmations stop.

It is not a countdown to release. A missed check-in starts a careful process of trying to reach you and the people around you, and the vault is never opened just because a clock ran out. That distinction is the difference between a safety net and a hair trigger.

Confirming you are alright

On the check-in screen you confirm you are alive — and, where relevant, that you are safe. Only a genuine confirmation resets the clock. Ordinary background activity in the app deliberately does not count: the whole mechanism would be worthless if simply having your phone in your pocket kept it reassured while something was actually wrong.

You set the rhythm in your check-in settings — how often you are asked, how the reminders are paced, and quiet hours so you are not pinged in the middle of the night. Pick a cadence you will actually keep. One you ignore trains you to dismiss the very alert that matters.

When you will be away

Travel, a retreat, a hospital stay planned in advance — there are stretches where you know you will be out of contact. Rather than let those trigger a false alarm, you can place a hold that suppresses escalation for a defined period, then resumes normally.

Use it deliberately and keep it short. A hold left on indefinitely is the same as having no check-in at all.

Trusted contacts, and what their answer can and cannot do

You name welfare contacts — people who can be asked, if you go quiet, whether they know you are alright. If one of them replies that you are fine, that is taken seriously and counts against any conclusion that something has happened.

But a contact's reassurance is advisory. It cannot, on its own, reset your check-in clock or release anything — only your own proof-of-life does that. This is deliberate: a well-meaning "oh, I'm sure they're fine" from someone who has not actually spoken to you should never be the thing that keeps a real emergency from being noticed.

If the signals stop: escalation and verification

If check-ins lapse despite reminders, LifeWyn escalates — reaching further to reach you and alerting the contacts you named. Only if that fails does it move toward the verification process, where supporting documents can be provided and reviewed. A release follows a considered decision, not the mere passage of time.

The exact intervals and the internal scoring are kept private on purpose — publishing the precise numbers would hand anyone trying to game the system the timings to game. What is public is the shape: reach the person, then the people around them, then require evidence, and fail safe at every step.

लोग जो सवाल पूछते हैं

Will my vault be released if I just miss a check-in?
No. A missed check-in starts an attempt to reach you and your trusted contacts, not a release. Nothing is opened on a timer — release follows the verification process and, for full inheritance, a verified death.
Does using the app count as checking in?
No. Only a deliberate confirmation resets the clock. Background activity is intentionally ignored, so a phone left on does not keep the system falsely reassured.
Can a trusted contact accidentally trigger a release?
No. Their input is advisory — a contact saying you are fine counts in your favour, but no contact can reset your clock or release anything on their own.
