Crypto Continuity Check: Could Anyone but You Recover It

A free check on whether your crypto is recoverable by anyone but you. Seed phrase storage, hardware wallets, exchange accounts, and the single points of failure in each.

Crypto is the asset class with no institution to appeal to. A key nobody can reconstruct is gone, permanently, in a way a bank account never is. This checks whether recovery is possible at all, and whether it is possible without exposing you now.

What you hold

Is there a record of every wallet, exchange account and hardware device?

Including the exchange account you stopped using.

Does it distinguish self-custody from an account with a company behind it?

They are recovered by completely different routes.

Recovery

Does recovery material exist for every self-custodied holding?

Seed phrase, recovery key, or whatever the wallet uses.

Would that material survive a fire, a flood or a house move?

One copy in one place is not a backup.

Could a trusted person reconstruct access without you?

This is the question. Everything else is preparation for it.

Have you avoided storing recovery material in plain text in a note, photo or email?

The most common way holdings are lost is also the most common way they are stolen.

Safe while you are alive

Does the arrangement require more than one person to act?

A single trusted holder is a single point of both failure and temptation.

Have you tested the recovery route rather than assuming it works?

Untested recovery is a plan, not a backup.

这个分数是怎么算出来的

Three sections: whether the holdings are known, whether recovery material exists and is survivable, and whether the arrangement is safe while you are alive. Recovery carries the most weight because it is the only irreversible one.

Every question is yes/no and carries a weight of 1 to 3. A section scores the weight you answered “yes” to as a percentage of its total weight. The overall score combines the section percentages by the section weights shown on each heading, which always total 100, then rounds. Anything you have not answered counts as “no”, so a half-finished assessment always scores lower than the same situation fully answered — the score is never flattered by stopping early.

The score reflects only the answers you gave. It cannot see your documents, your accounts or the rules where you live, so treat it as a prompt for what to check next, not a verdict.

This is a self-assessment, not advice. It scores the answers you gave against a checklist we wrote — it does not see your documents, your accounts or your jurisdiction, and it is not legal, tax or financial advice. What is required varies by country. Treat the score as a prompt for what to look at next, and speak to a qualified professional about your own situation.
