Nominees

Nominee health check

Whether the people you have nominated are still the right people, still reachable, and still know they were nominated.

A nomination made years ago and never revisited is one of the quietest failure modes in this whole subject: everything looks configured, and the person named is unreachable, unaware, or no longer the person you would choose. This checks the nominations themselves rather than what they unlock.

Section 1 of 3 · 40% of the score

Coverage

Does every significant asset have someone nominated against it?

Accounts, policies, investments, property, digital holdings.

Have you nominated a second person where the first might be unavailable?

Especially where the first is a similar age to you or lives with you.

Are the shares or splits written down where more than one person is involved?

An unstated split is an argument waiting for a bad week.

Section 2 of 3 · 40% of the score

Reachable and informed

Does each nominee know they have been nominated?

Someone who does not know will not come forward.

Are their contact details current?

Check the phone number you last used, not the one on the form.

Does each one know roughly what they would be responsible for?

Being named is not the same as knowing what it means.

Section 3 of 3 · 20% of the score

If something changes

Have you reviewed the list since your last major life change?

Separation and estrangement are the two this catches most often.

Would you still choose every person on it today?

Answer honestly; this is the question the tool exists for.

Nothing answered yet. Your score appears once every question has an answer — a part-finished score would measure the questions you skipped.

How this score is worked out

Three sections: whether the nominations exist and are complete, whether the people are reachable and informed, and whether there is a fallback when one of them is not.

Every question is yes/no and carries a weight of 1 to 3. A section scores the weight you answered “yes” to as a percentage of its total weight. The overall score combines the section percentages by the section weights shown on each heading, which always total 100, then rounds. Anything you have not answered counts as “no”, so a half-finished assessment always scores lower than the same situation fully answered — the score is never flattered by stopping early.

The score reflects only the answers you gave. It cannot see your documents, your accounts or the rules where you live, so treat it as a prompt for what to check next, not a verdict.

This is a self-assessment, not advice. It scores the answers you gave against a checklist we wrote — it does not see your documents, your accounts or your jurisdiction, and it is not legal, tax or financial advice. What is required varies by country. Treat the score as a prompt for what to look at next, and speak to a qualified professional about your own situation.
